Observations of Daily Living: a Crucial Component of Care

Tracking observations of daily living, or ODLs, such as diet, exercise, mood, and medication adherence can be a very difficult task, as the Wall Street Journal noted earlier today.  For elderly patients living at home, the burden of recording pages upon pages of crucial ODL information often falls on the family caregiver, who, in light of competing priorities, may not have time to devote to such an involved task.

New innovations such as a smart pill that can text a patient’s or family member's mobile phone if s/he forgets to take a scheduled medication hold tremendous for relieving this burden. Coupling such innovations with software that enables us to track text messages sent after missing a scheduled incident and to proactively prevent incidents from occurring in the first place can go a long way in assisting busy caregivers. This is where we can help!
